Community Partnership

Taking On Diabetes — New York
The New York Diabetes Coalition (NYDC) began as the Westchester New York Diabetes Coalition (WNYDC). Working with local and statewide representatives of professional medical academies and societies, health departments and health plan medical directors, the New York Health Plan Association (HPA) initiated the WNYDC in 1999. Westchester County was chosen as a pilot site for the work of the Coalition because of its high prevalence of adults with diabetes.

Since its beginnings in Westchester County, the Coalition has garnered support and membership from all across New York State. In 2004, the Coalition members agreed to change the name to the New York Diabetes Coalition as it more appropriately reflects the membership and geographic scope of activity. For more information, please access the NYDC's website at www.nydc.org. A list of Partners in the Westchester County New York Diabetes Coalition and Newsletters from the partnership is also available on the Coalition's website.
